A Daily Dance Break with Dance United Guest Artists Maia and Tamás

The Dutch National Ballet is kindly loaning us two of their principal dancers, Maia Makhateli and Tamás Zoctan Nagy. Both are originally from Eastern Europe- Maia hails from Tblisi, Georgia and Tamás is originally from Budapest, Hungary. Both have had multi-national careers before finding a home at the Dutch National. Tamás is a photographer in addition to being a dancer- Maia used to dance with our own Chauncey Parsons at Colorado Ballet before joining the Dutch National.

Here you can watch them performing a bit of the Gamzatti Pas d’Action from La Bayadere together:

And here you can see Maia perform with Chauncey at the Colorado Ballet:

We look forward to seeing them perform a pas de deux from a work by Krzysztof Pastor (a former Dutch National Ballet principal and Washington Ballet choreographer in residence who has now risen to become the director of both the Polish and Lithuanian National Opera’s ballet companies) called In Light and Shadow.

What to expect of In Light and Shadow? Here’s a taste:

Maia and Tamás will perform alongside guest artists from around the world at Oregon Ballet Theatre’s season finale celebration, Dance United, on June 9th at 7:30 pm at the Keller Auditorium. We look forward to having you join us.
